What it is
Orihost Billing is a custom billing and client management platform I built alongside Sead Sherifi to replace Orihost's off-the-shelf billing panel. It brings customer management, hosting service provisioning, order processing, invoicing, payment handling, automated renewals, and infrastructure management together behind a modern client area and a dedicated admin dashboard.
Why it was hard
Off-the-shelf billing panels are built for everyone, which means they fit no one perfectly. A generic panel got Orihost off the ground, but every hosting-specific workflow — provisioning, renewals, suspensions, infrastructure hooks — meant working around the tool instead of with it. We needed billing that understands how our hosting actually runs.
What we learned first
Running day-to-day operations at Orihost showed exactly where the friction lived: manual steps between an order and a running server, renewals that needed babysitting, and admin tasks scattered across screens. Every one of those became a requirement — if staff were doing it by hand, the platform should do it for them.
How it's built
A Laravel application on MySQL forms the core, modelling customers, services, orders, invoices, and payments as first-class domain objects. Livewire drives a reactive client area and admin dashboard without a separate SPA, and Tailwind CSS keeps the interface consistent. Provisioning and renewals run as automated jobs wired directly into Orihost's hosting infrastructure.
What shipped
- Customer and client management in one place
- Order processing wired directly into service provisioning
- Invoicing, payment handling, and automated renewals
- Infrastructure management built around Orihost's stack
- Modern client area plus a dedicated admin dashboard
Where it fought back
Replacing a live system
Orihost already had real customers on its old billing panel. Moving to a new platform meant mapping every client, service, and invoice across without anyone noticing the switch.
Billing that provisions itself
An order isn't done when it's paid — it's done when the server is running. Tying order processing directly to provisioning removes the gap between checkout and a live service.
Renewals on autopilot
Recurring invoices, payment retries, suspensions, and reactivations have to happen on time, every time. Automated renewal flows replace the manual chasing that off-the-shelf tools left behind.
What it did
What I'd tell you over coffee
Build the tool your operations already wish existed. The best spec for Orihost Billing wasn't a feature list — it was every manual step we kept repeating. Automate the work you're tired of, and the product designs itself.
